Inspired by bees, trees and the magic (and grief) of existing in the world as a 22 year old, Bambin is a solo project by Jasmine Byrami (guitar + vocals) lovingly cultivated between Te Papaioea and Pōneke. Sonically with room to breathe and poetically a little bit like you’re having a D&M in a misty emo seaside dreamscape. Bambin wants you to stand there with your eyes closed and feel what you feel and then maybe do a little sway and hug your friends.

Bambin takes inspiration from Te Papaioea legends Sports Dreams, Museum Stork and First Move, as well as sounds from Brisbane-based Requin, having supported them on the Palmy leg of their NZ tour. This will be Bambin’s first Pōneke performance despite making a home out of the inner suburbs for the past two years. The name ‘Bambin’ comes from the Italian word ‘bambina’ for ‘girl’, but dropping the feminine denotation as a way of carving out a more comfortable word for their non-binary self in their paternal tongue.
