Bic Runga announced for Newtown Festival 2019
Newtown Festival is elated to present the iconic Bic Runga to headline the RadioActive.FM & Coffee Supreme South Stage (South Riddiford Street). Having recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her classic album ‘Drive’, as well as releasing new album ‘Close Your Eyes’, we warmly welcome the multiple award-winning and the much-loved Bic Runga to the streets of Newtown on Sunday 3 March 2019.

In 1996, at the age of twenty, Bic Runga released her first single ‘Drive’. Since then, she has been awarded almost every musical honour in New Zealand. Bic has won the most Tuis (New Zealand Music Awards) by any individual ever at a total of twenty. She has won Best Female Vocalist four times, Best Producer three times, is a recipient of the Legacy Award and has been inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall Of Fame, won the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Songwriting Award, her debut album ‘Drive’ certified platinum seven times, ‘Beautiful Collision’ certified platinum eleven times, and the Queen made her a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Newtown Festival is on Sunday 3 March 2019 with a fun and friendly atmosphere, delicious food, craft beer from Wellington’s best brewers, stalls with unique crafts and cool clothes, games for kids and fantastic music and entertainment for all ages across 14 stages, and more.
