KANIERE are a Wellington based, five piece indie rock outfit, lead by guitarist/songwriter Duncan McLean, who says that his songs (as performed by the band) “sound like our record collections, influenced by ’80’s New Zealand bands, with punk overtones.”

Duncan adds the emphasis (post their egocentric stage in life) is purely on fun and enjoyment for both band and audience, completely justified by crowd response at recent (their first) gigs, which followed an intensive period of de-construction/construction and rehearsal of his strong set of original compositions.

Ohope Beach based Drummer, Kim Van der Aa, keeps his playing original and energetic, a healthy balance of ideas and attitude, with roots in The Gordons and The Ramones.

Other members – with kiwi music legacy – are Tony Spear (bass) and Carlton McRae on main vocals Norma Grace McLean Vocals
