Soulful singer-songwriter Louis Baker possesses a voice that he’s able to wield to jaw-dropping effect. His vocal stylings are influenced by classic soul, RnB and the troubadour songwriters of our modern era, whilst his lyrics are crafted with emotive artistic integrity.
In 2013 he was selected to attend the prestigious annual Red Bull Music Academy in New York. He then recorded and released his self-titled EP which debuted at #3 on the NZ Album Chart, and was a top five finalist for the 2014 APRA Silver Scroll Award for his song Back On My Feet .
Since then, he has been a top 20 finalist in the APRA Silver Scrolls awards in 2017 and 2018 and this year released his debut album ‘Open’ which sees Louis securing two nominations at the NZ Music Awards 2019 for Best Artist Soul / RnB and Best Māori artist.
Baker has independently built up over 15 million Spotify gathering a loyal following that spans the world over which has lead him to sell out shows across New Zealand and to perform at festivals across the world, including Sziget Festival, Sonar Festival, The Great Escape, and Splendor in the Grass and opening for international artists such as Fat Freddys’ Drop, Allen Stone, Jordan Rakei and Morcheba.
