Born and raised in the East of Christchurch, New Zealand, singer/songwriter Yayné grew up on the stage and there is no doubt that is where she belongs. Her undeniable stage presence only compliments what comes most naturally; her voice. With her powerful yet tender vocals and sultry tones, Yayné is a captivating live performer who mesmerises any crowd. She has travelled the world singing and this is seen in her ease at performing in front of a festival sized crowd as it is with an intimate live audience.
Yayné has earned a prominent feminine presence in the New Zealand music scene. She features on several releases with UK record label Tempa, and can count collaborations with a number of established local artists and musicians such as Truth, Kamandi, Tom Scott (YGB), MeloDownz, and Raiza Biza, among some of the highlights. She released her first body of solo work in 2016; ’Simple Pleasure’, a deeply personal EP that explores the experience of a woman falling in and out of love and the empowerment that comes with it. The EP not only showcases her talent and range as a vocalist but also her ability to be an honest and compelling songwriter.
Since relocating to the country’s creative capital Wellington, Yayné has joined forces with a talented band of local heavyweights; Jules Blewman (guitar), Sam Notman (drums), and Leonardo Coghini (keys/bass). Together they bring a fresh dimension to her neo-soul sound, and a force not to be slept on.
