Zero Waste at Newtown Festival

The Zero Waste team are hoping to beat records with the amount of waste they will divert from the landfill this year. There will be 22 waste management stations (up from 15 in past years), and three sorting stations where everything will be double checked so nothing that can be composted or recycled goes to the landfill. They need lots of volunteers to make this work, and there are still slots to fill. If you can help please let them know by filling in this short form.

There are rewards – some generous companies have chipped in so volunteers get a mini Frizz Wrangler shampoo bar from Ethique, a beautiful reusable cotton bag from Rethink Reusable Fresh Produce Bags and tasty SkinnyFizz to keep hydrated.

As a Festival goer you can help – ‘reuse’ is the best form of waste avoidance, so bring your own keep cup and water bottle – and if you buy your Festival food in Rintoul St the Wash Against Waste team provide real crockery and china plates, which are collected, washed and sterilised – no need for throw away packaging here!
