Banjo Ben and The Breeze are a new 4-piece indie-folk comedy band based in Wellington, NZ. They are known for their iconic beanies, their regular evening busking sessions on Cuba Street, and their theatrically charged gigs, which are packed full of catchy lyrics, wild stories and plenty of laughs. Also covering the fields of rap, techno, and pirate music, you’ll learn to expect the unexpected.
This group cannot be pinned to one specific genre, but their influence stems from artists such as The Decemberists, Flight of the Conchords and Billy Strings. With a total of 10 unique instruments to balance between them, Banjo Ben and The Breeze have crafted a totally unique experience that is fresh to the Newtown Festival.
Although they only fully formed mid 2025, the band has already performed at many of Wellington’s most iconic music venues, have developed a large catalogue of material, and have just returned from their first NZ tour with multiple sold out performances. Hold on to your hats because The Breeze is blowing into Newtown…
