

KING KAPISI aka Bill Urale (ARTS, PEOPLE & CULTURE/ MARKETING): Bill Rangi Urale MNZM, known by his stage name King Kapisi, is a Samoan/ New Zealand Born Award winning hip hop/ reggae recording and producing artist. He was the first hip hop artist in New Zealand to receive the Silver Scroll Award at the APRA Awards for Songwriter of the Year for his single Reverse Resistance in 1999. King has more recently written songs and was the face of national campaigns for the ANZ Bank partnering with New Zealand Cricket and a Mastercard campaign as well. King has served nearly 30,000 of his community countrywide, and was recognized for this with his appointment of his “Queen’s Honours Medal’ received for his service to “music and his community” work around Aotearoa in 2023. King Kapisi has performed alongside Metallica, Janet Jackson, The Black Eyed Peas, UB40, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy,The Red Hot Peppers and many more. He has performed at almost every major music festival and event in New Zealand & Australia as well as tours to Asia, U.S.A, Canada, Europe and Glastonbury Festival.
King Kapisi continues to serve his communities with his Charitable Trust “Hoops And Life Awhi Charitable Trust” by working with underprivileged youth and serving the basketball community of the south pacific with his own “Hoops And Life 4×4 Basketball tournaments.
