Amy Jean is a DJ, producer and multidisciplinary artist whose catalogue of explorative works and compositions reflects a depth of experience across contemporary music fields and the visual arts.
A release in 2013 on George FitzGerald’s ManMakeMusic (UK) imprint with LA-based artist Natan H inspired a move to London where Amy continued to refine her sound playing ManMakeMusic label parties and immersing herself within London’s underground club scene. A master’s in Media Art and Design at Bauhaus in Germany followed during which time Amy worked for notable Berlin agency KLS bookings.
With a background in the visual arts, Amy has presented sound and music commissions for Adam Art Gallery, Audio Arts Aotearoa, Wellington based events series Works for Loudspeakers, and was the 2019 / 2020 Sound Artist in Residence at Toi Pōneke Arts Centre.
In the club, Amy is known for her honest but well-informed house and techno sets, having cultivated a sound that reflects over a decade’s field research on the dance floors and in the record stores of Europe and North America. Challenging, musically literate and fun, Amy’s sound never fails to resonate with dancers and heads alike.
