Fresh from recent trips back to Ghana, Ato and The Little Boy bring you rhythms from the coast of West Africa.
Ato Kwamena is a composer and a percussionist from the Cape Coast in Ghana.
Inspired by Highlife and Afrobeat music, he has performed with numerous Aotearoa groups, including Culture Embassy, Orchestra of Spheres, ISKRA, Lake South and Lord Echo.
The Little Boy (10y) has grown up watching his dad perform. Toe tapping, pen clicking, beat boxing, general bouncing and flinging – music and movement are in his bones.
Father and son will share the stage for the first official time at Newtown Festival.
