Des Mallon Blues and the Melody Makers are led by NZ Music Hall of Fame recipient and Porirua resident, Des Mallon and the group was simply born from his love for the Blues.
A well known drummer in the NZ music scene, Des has played with numerous artists like Andrew Tosh(Son of Peter Tosh)Music Director-Nz tour, Upper Hutt Posse-Inducted into the Nz Hall of fame, Ranea-Best Māori Album, David Grace&Injustice-Music Director, Wai 100%-Mina Ripia & Maaka McGregor just to name a few, and has toured the world establishing networks, making memories and all whilst holding down the beats.
His start in music however came from Des busking with his guitar on the streets of Porirua whilst he was at secondary school and singing the Blues. He wanted to return to that, and raise the profile of the Blues genre and so he made some calls, and along with his partner Melody, created this Blues Experience. The band has been together for 3 years, bringing an exciting spin to the the scene and have been playing at local bars and festivals. They love the journey they’re on and will continue to promote the Blues for as long as people are keen to have them on their stage.
