Mariam (Hafleh + Sonic Hapori) is a composer, artist, and sonic experimenter based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Previously performing under the alias حلالاماما (HALALAMAMA), where she orbited within heavier Arab-club sounds, she now brings us a dubbed-out alter ego. One that leans into low-end meditation, electronic darbuka loops and autotuned incantations . Her live sets drift between a world of radical improvisation, flutes that sound like the light in Baghdad, and a world of kākāpō subs.
