This Block hosts the Te Māngai Pāho & E Tū Whānau Tangata Whenua Stage outside Newtown School where the Festival Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:30am.

Emmett St
This street has lots of FOOD STALLS and hosts the Emmett Street Stage from 10.30am – 3.45pm, and the Afrourban Soundstage from 4pm – 7pm.
At the end of the street are the Filipino Village stalls. In the St Anne’s grounds you will find the Circus Stage and many free activities for Aotearoa Children’s Day, and the Pasifika precinct with stalls and the Pasifika Stage in Mercy Park.
You can walk through the St Anne’s grounds to Green St – through the gap in the ivy covered fence.

At the end of this street, on through the ivy-covered fence, is the Pasifika Stage in Mercy Park, the Pasifika stalls in St Anne’s grounds, lots of free activities for children, teenagers and families- and room in the St Anne’s Hall to rest and relax (toilets available). Beyond the Hall are the Filipino Vollage stalls. This is also access to Emmett St, with its stage and food stalls.

In 2024 Arney St is designated ‘Little Poland’, as the Polish Association celebrates 75 years in Newtown.
Little Poland: 1000 square meters of family and dog-friendly, licensed, outdoor cafe surrounded by stalls selling all manner of delicious Polish food, beer, barista coffees, crafts, books and even couture. All open from 10 am until 7pm or when stalls sell out.
