“Varda are an alternative dream pop duo from Te Whanganui-a-Tara featuring Alison O’Reilly, formerly of Sydney psych band The Dandelion and Ru from Unsanitary Napkin and Displeasure. Under The Radar described them as “an emotionally transportive shimmering mosaic of majestic guitars and motorik grooves”. After releasing only a handful of songs over the years, they have just released their first EP ‘Farthest Shore’, which was described by Martin Pepperell as sitting “in an Antopdean pocket somewhere between Young Marble Giants and early The XX” and Chris Cudby called it a “crucial release in Aotearoa’s dream-pop/shoegaze landscape.”
